DOD established the annual Family Readiness Award in 2000 to recognize the top Reserve Component unit that demonstrates outstanding family readiness while maintaining superior mission readiness. This award promotes excellence and builds strength in unit level family readiness efforts. The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs will award the FY 2019 DOD Reserve Family Readiness Award to the unit selected by each Reserve Component at the Pentagon Hall of Heroes on 27 March 2020. 2. Action: Nomination packages should be no more than three pages in length and address the following three objectives: A. Command involvement. Consider the following: (1) Command support for family readiness (2) Connection of family support efforts to mission readiness (3) Communications to unit and family members B. Community linkage/total force focus. Consider the following: (1) Total force support (2) Community outreach programs (3) Community partnerships C. Innovative development/initiatives. Consider the following: (1) Technology and communication improvements (2) Outreach programs (3) Programs that improve quality of life (4) Benefits and entitlements support (5) Disseminating information (6) Family resiliency (7) Best practices (8) Family and youth functions (9) Care packages (10) Newcomers services (11) Military to civilian transition and networking/resumes 3. For each objective, a narrative description of the elements should include both qualitative and quantitative remarks (e.g., number of dependents with ID cards, percentage of non-mobilization ready Reservists due to family readiness issues, percentage of Reservists with family care plans, etc.). 4.
